Early years in pictures // MostlyMilly

I'm sleeping over at my Grandma's tonight and I thought about doing a coat or fashion themed post as she has an amazing wardrobe however she's fallen asleep on me so I went rummaging around the spare room and found her huge collection of old photographs.
I found some photographs dating back to when my Grandma was a baby, photos from way before I was born, pictures of my Grandma's wedding, my christening, me as a baby, my little brother and sister, my mum and dad, my dad as a child etc etc, hundreds.
I thought it would be a nice idea to feature a few pictures of me when I was little and some of my family members. I don't know what photos family members would or would not appreciate me uploading onto the internet so most of them are just of me.

I have many more important family members I didn't get to show or mention in this post but I feel so very lucky to have such a close, loving and accepting family and I can't wait to spend Christmas with them all :)

Lots of love x

Guide to Christmas jumpers // MostlyMilly

If you go through Christmas without the joy of wearing an inexplicably cheesy Christmas jumper let me tell you, you are missing out. Picking one out is one of the things I look forward to doing every year and the bigger and cheesier the better. Here's me modelling the family's 2014 Christmas jumper collection.

As you can see, they really are wonderfully cheesy. I believe we found them in various places, charity shops etc. They were bought primarily for our Christmas card photo. We wanted it to be over the top, cheesy and abit of a piss take.

Here are some Christmas jumpers you might like to check out for the coming weeks :)
  • If you want to go for a simple jumper that you can easily walk out of the house wearing without feeling a complete tit, this H&M Fine knit jumper may be the one for you. link x

  • YES. This is what I'm talking about. A flashing fireplace lighted Christmas Jumper. Pretty pricey but how hilarious. This is like the ultimate cheesy Christmas jumper. link x

  • Festive and fluffy :)  link x

  • Anyone who knows me will know full well I have no issue with wearing men's clothing, infact I encourage it. Here's an elf themed jumper. link x

  • Festive and stylish. My kind of jumper. link x

Thank you for reading darlings, be sure to follow me on bloglovin if you would like x

Audrey and Givenchy // MostlyMilly

Hello again ,

I feel my love for Audrey deserves it's own blog post which I will one day publish but today I wanted to address Audrey Hepburn and Hubert de Givenchy. Their friendship started in 1953 when Miss Hepburn required a wardrobe for her second film Sabrina. Audrey went to meet Givenchy in his studio in Paris where he was surprised to see the virtually unknown, spritely Audrey when he'd expected to meet Katharine Hepburn, an already established star. Despite the misunderstanding, Audrey and Hubert became dear friends immediately, a friendship that would last till her premature death in 1993.
I really wanted to share with you some wonderful photos of Audrey and Hubert and some of Audrey in Givenchy's clothes. As she would repeat many times in her life, 'wearing Givenchy's clothes was like wearing armour. It protected her, it made her feel safe.'
Oh what I would do for a friendship like theirs :)

Opinion on Zoella // MostlyMilly

Hello!

There's been a lot of controversy over the last few days involving Zoella ( Zoe Sugg ) and I wanted to offer up my opinion on it. If you haven't heard of her already you've probably been living under a rock but basically she is a blogger/ youtuber  and she recently released her first book 'Girl Online'. Now, I pre- ordered the book a while back and now have it in my possession. The reason I haven't already read it all is partly due to my insane list of books I'm trying to make my way through and partly because of the fact her main character has anxiety and even in the first two chapters that I have read, there has already been a panic attack. Suffering from anxiety myself I found it difficult to read that part as it triggered the thoughts and feelings of my own panic attacks. However, I will get round to reading it asap.

Although I haven't read the book I am a regular viewer of her YouTube videos and have followed the process of the making of the book and can remember many times in which she's mentioned the fact that she's had help writing the book. Recently in the media there have been articles suggesting Zoe had very little involvement in the writing and has slapped her name on the cover purely for fame and recognition. Nowadays I am aware that a number of books, especially those by celebrities, are ghost written or are at least aided in the writing. Personally I don't see a problem with this as long as the reader is aware of the fact they have had help. It is clear Zoe has never denied this.

The articles that have come to light over the last few days, I believe have really shown the ignorance and manipulation of the UK press and their stories.

As you can see the story has completely manipulated the situation and made it more of a drama than the situation actually is. Personally, as a teenage girl, a sufferer of anxiety and someone who can relate to Zoe, I feel she is unfairly presented in the media and deserves more recognition for the help in destroying the taboo of anxiety and mental health. From this, we are shown that no matter how inspirational, kind or ambitious you are, the British media will always find a way to portray you as something you are not.

Dressing table top tour // MostlyMilly

 Hello loves,
Here's a little tour of the top of my dressing table, what I keep on it and where I got all my storage.
The actual table is from ikea and part of the Malm range. I love the glass top but it's a nightmare to keep clean. It includes a little drawer as you can see but it only pulls out a little way which is a shame as you can't keep much in it. That drawer is where I keep most of my makeup.

Starting from the left, I keep my Cloud Nine Theo, a little circular mirror and a silver glossy box lid which I keep my sunglasses in and my everyday jewelry which usually consists of my Michael Kors watch and my very precious earrings.

In front of that I keep my acrylic makeup holder I bought from amazon. I use it to hold some of my lipsticks, lip glosses and favourite Miss Dior perfume.

To the right of that I keep all my makeup brushes in this biscuit jar I bought from T K Maxx. T K Maxx is a really great place to get storage from and I'm sure it was under £10. The pale pink pebbles I bought from hobbycraft. ( apologies for the dirty brushes )

I don't remember where I got this little brown heart box from but I use it to keep some earrings I don't often wear, some fake eyelashes and a bath and bodyworks hand sanitizer that I like to use before I do my makeup.

I bought the white letter holder from T K Maxx and it's PERFECT for holding makeup palettes. It's really pretty and has alot of room. The two rose pots  I bought from Ikea and include my most used lipliners and eyeliners. I like to keep them out so that they are easy to grab. Next to them I just keep a candle :)

Next I have this white basket that I keep most of my hair products. Items like hairspray, brushes, dry shampoo and hair clips are chucked in there.

Finally, hanging off the end I keep my Dior toiletry bag that holds all my skincare products. Here are a few things I keep in there x

Thank you for reading! xx
