Kerastase Oleo Curl Creme // MostlyMilly

My little sister has always had the most gorgeous curly hair  ( see below ) but as she’s grown older it’s got longer and harder to maintain.

It’s still completely beautiful but due to its length she finds it hard to look after it and she finds 2 minutes after she’s brushed it all through and made it knotless, suddenly it tangles itself back together again.

Recently, after brushing her hair through in the shower she’s been covering her hair in this Kerastase Oleo curl creme by Loreal. I haven’t yet been able to test this out on straight hair but on curly hair it creates lovely, natural ringlet - like curls.

Here’s her hair straight after she’s brushed it through in the shower and after we covered it in a good load of the product.

The results after 10 minutes ...

If you have curly hair and you are battling with the frizz you need this product.

Anxiety Introduction // MostlyMilly

In the past I'd have usually held off writing a post like this in fear of getting hate or backlash or being branded an " attention seeker". Initially I didn't want to draw attention or to mention my anxiety at all on my blog as I didn't want it to be about it at all.  A lot of my life is filled with anxiety and this blog was going to be the one place where it was left out. However, over the last week I've encountered the worst spell of anxiety I've ever gone through in my life and was unable to post anything. I wanted to bring my illness to light for my readers so they know that if I have been absent or haven't posted for a few days or a week, it's due to my anxiety and I haven't forgotten about you!

Before I begin I would just like to address that this post is for people who might be interested in finding out more about anxiety as a mental illness, who suffer from anxiety or are just curious. If you think anxiety is a made up, over dramatized excuse for avoiding situations or something that people conjure up for sympathy and "there there" comments you should look away now as you will probably  not understand this post and I would hate to start arguments or for anyone to get upset by your opinions.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I would rather this post be positive and helpful rather than hateful :)

( Quick disclaimer : I'm NOT a medical doctor or professional. All the facts and opinions I use are from my experience with my anxiety , my many trips to the doctor and hundreds of therapy sessions)

All that aside, I would like to tell you a little about my anxiety journey and my mental illness. I don't know why I'm crying when I write the words ''mental illness'' as it's not a new revelation to me as I've dealt with it my whole life. I suppose the words ''mental illness'' carry so much stigma that it's sometimes easier to avoid them. When I think of the words ''mental illness'' things like 'crazy' 'ill' 'strange' 'mental patient' come to my mind. I imagine a Bertha Mason character ( Jane Eyre reference ) locked in a dark room and hidden away from society, rocking in a corner. One person ( if you're reading this don't worry I forgive you)  once told me that because I wasn't 'rocking in a dark corner' I couldn't possibly have anxiety. From someone who has had anxiety for the majority of my life I can definitely confirm this is not true.
There are many 'levels' shall I say of anxiety. Someone with anxiety may occasionally feel panicky or overwhelmed. They may get panicked when having to talk infront of crowds, to be in a busy place or on public transport.
My anxiety has been around since I was literally a toddler. Obviously at that time I didn't know what a panic attack was but one of my first ever memories are of losing my mum in a shopping centre and having a panic attack. For me, it's not something that's just appeared in my teens, I was born with it like someone could have been born with eczema . Recently, I went to see one of my favourite men in the world Stephen Fry talk in Sheffield. He has publicly battled with depression, another mental illness, and is very open and frank about it. He explained, in his extremely charming way, that having a mental illness is no different to having asthma and that telling someone to simply stop having it is frankly ridiculous.
I hope my grandma won't mind me mentioning her life long anxiety ( infact I highly doubt she will seen as though she's been on tv about it. ) We regularly talk about it and she understands it completely dealing with it for 60 years. We think the anxiety runs in the family as my great great Grandfather never left our town , my Grandma has anxiety, my Uncle has anxiety and I have it too. I think it's safe to say in this case its hereditary. I hope this may prove to some of you that this really is an illness. Not something we can simply choose not to have.
I have been through a few schools in my short 16 years but in the end it just didn't work out for me. I've been homeschooled for a while and at the moment I do my studying independently with Oxford homeschooling. Trust me, I've been to hell and back when it comes to school and panic attacks. I used to rip up my tights on the way to school so I couldn't go ( you have to laugh) and beg my family to let me stay at home. Anyway, enough of that, I genuinely don't like to go into all that because my family are much more understanding and I am incredibly lucky to have such supportive people around me. However, many people aren't so lucky. They are misunderstood, alone and scared and to me, this is unacceptable.

This post could become an essay if I'm not careful so I suppose I'll write a more extensive post if anyone wants one? Basically all I wanted this post to be an introduction and something to reassure anyone feeling alone, scared or unsure about mental health that it will be okay. Trust me you're not alone and if you need some help here's a few link to check out :

I'm sure you've all heard of the wonderful woman Zoe Sugg ( youtubes Zoella)
She almost makes me tear up with gratitude with the way she publicizes anxiety and is helping to tear down the wall of stigma surrounding mental illness. If you've not already seen her videos on anxiety check them out here :

Like I said above, this post was more of a introduction to anxiety, I could literally write pages and pages if I could but I don't want to bore anyone to death. If you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks leave me a comment below and I promise you I will reply. You are NOT alone and I promise you it will get better. Also, if you have any tips or advice for anyone dealing with anxiety or panic attacks please share! It would be great to have a community of us helping and advising each other through this bloody terrible illness and together, we can fight the stigma.

Ps. To learn more about a movement called the 'don't panic button' skip to 1:52 in one of Zoe's vlogs here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRW9XBiGPdw

Get out some red buttons, pin them on your coat, make a bracelet, make a hair clip ANYTHING and show your support.

Here's mine :)

Love to you all, thank you for your kindness and if you have anxiety or simply support those of us who do, I love you, I'm incredibly grateful and you're truly wonderful people :)

Micellar Cleansing Water Review // MostlyMilly

Super super super sad and disappointed that I didn’t manage to post at all this week. I have been desperately ill with my anxiety ( to the point where I couldn’t eat, hardly talk or leave the house) BUT I am determined to be on the mend and with the help of valium and positive thinking I’ll be back to normal and posting regularly in no time :)

Recently I watched a youtube video of a review on this Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and it made me want to give it a try.  This cleansing water claims  to remove makeup, cleanse, soothe and all without rinsing. It says it’s ‘even for sensitive skin’  and is ‘hypo allergic’ and also states there’s no perfume. I wouldn’t say I have extremely sensitive skin or that I’m particularly picky when it comes to taking my makeup off. Don’t judge me but I do usually go for the handy pack of makeup wipes and hope for the best , however recently I’ve made it my mission to take more care of my skin and pay more attention to my skin care routine.

I find the packaging so pretty , which is probably sad of me to get excited over a bottle of cleanser but I do tend to get excited over silly things. I bought this off amazon for a whopping £6.18 + £2.20 shipping due to the fact I’m lazy and couldn’t be bothered to go and grab it from my local boots for £5.00.

This 400ml bottle claims to last 200 uses which is pretty brilliant if it really does.

Personally I think this is a great product to use for general makeup removal as it works really well and you need hardly any product to remove a full face of makeup. It’s so gentle on your skin and leaves it feeling soft and refreshed. I don’t have dry skin but I’ve been told by someone who has that this cleanser doesn’t dry out their skin or irritate it at all.  This product against another cleansers such as Bio Derma is so much better value for money.

Although this cleanser will remove your face makeup easily I would say that because it’s such a gentle product, it does take a little more effort to remove your eye makeup such as mascara,. It does eventually get all the eye makeup off but if you wear a fair amount of eye makeup I would recommend using a separate eye makeup remover.

A regular cotton pad is all you need to apply this product and it will remove your makeup instantly, gently and won’t leave a greasy residue, much like other cleansers that leave your skin feeling oily and sticky.

Seventeen Wow! Skin 3 way highlighter // MostlyMilly

Recently I've been really loving a glowing, shimmery look to my skin and was on the lookout for a highlighter or primer that I could mix in with my foundation to give me a more natural, glowy effect. For a few months now my go to highlighter has been my smashbox highlighter which I love, it's so creamy and easy to use and it never appears oily. I have a pretty normal skin type and I very rarely suffer with oily skin which allows me to experiment with non matte looks. Infact I never use a matte foundation or a tonne off powder as I don't feel like it suits me at all and cakey is the last look I'm going for.

Sadly, I don't remember who's blog I was reading the other day when I came across this product but they did a pretty good job of selling it to me as the next day I had bought it. The Seventeen Wow! Skin 3 way highlighter is supposed to be versatile enough to be able to use as a foundation primer, to be able to mix it in with your foundation and to use as a general highlight on the cheekbones ect ect. The price mark is £5.99 and for that I think it's a bargain.

The product comes with a handy pump type dispenser which makes using it super easy. There's nothing worse than having to try and pour out the correct amount of product onto your hand, especially if you're as clumsy as me. The amount of disasters I've had with white jeans and Nars sheerglow...
The packaging is fairly simple but I like the way you can see how much product you've got left so you don't run out unexpectantly.

^ This is what the product looks like when you first apply it onto your hand. Note that this is probably way too much and that with this highlighter , a little goes a long way.

Yes, I have to admit it looks very shimmery and sparkly on the hand but don't panic, it doesn't look nearly as sparkly on the face or mixed in with your foundation. You don't want to be looking like a walking disco ball so like I said before, less is definitely more with this product.

^ Here's a fairly poor attempt at showing you what it looks like on the face.  Here I'd used it on the tops of my cheekbones, down my nose, under my eyebrows and on my cupids bow. Personally I think it gives a really pretty effect and I think the fact it's basically a 3 in 1 product for £6 is perfect. All this aside I would maybe be alittle wary of this product if you have very oily skin, however for dry, combination / normal skin types I think it's great :)

New Zara tops // MostlyMilly

Zara has some beautiful clothes in at the moment and they're always great quality. I love how reasonable the prices are for the material and the feel of the product you get. Sometimes from other websites you can find a really cheap item and think you've got yourself a great deal but buying online you can never really tell how good the quality is going to be and when it arrives it feels tacky and doesn't fall right. With Zara this is never the case.
I bought 4 tops from the Zara website on Monday night and they've arrived today (Wednesday) which I'm pleased about. I adore the effort and the way Zara packages your purchases, presentation is such a simple thing but I think it really adds to the feeling you've bought some really good quality clothing.

I'm trying to (slowly) stray away from my all black and all white outfits as I'm getting bored and I'm ready to branch out into some other colours. I've decided my next colour to obsess over is camel and since I got my camel coat I've fallen in love with everything camel.
The first top I bought is this simple, camel oversized sweater. It fits and falls really nicely and is  really flattering, for £12.99 I think it's a bargain.

I'm stocking up on jumpers for this Autumn/Winter because my favourite ever outfits to wear are simple, cosy jumpers thrown over high waisted jeans and a pair of heeled black boots. I bought this off white knitted jumper in large because I adore anything oversized.

Camel and turtle neck? Yes please.

Can't go wrong with a simple black slogan tee and I thought this was so cute. I see so many ' You can't sit with us' mean girls quote t shirts but I think this one is so much kinder and it's just sweet :) It's super soft and lovely to wear with a pair of black jeans ( I need to go to black rehab asap ) and some sweet flats.
