Recently I've had a lot of lovely people asking me about my foundation routine. Luckily, I have pretty average skin and rarely get spots, however I still don't feel totally comfortable going out without foundation.
I've been using Nars sheer glow for a couple of years now and it is my holy grail foundation. I use it in the shade Mont Blanc- light 2 and it gives a lovely healthy glow to your skin. It is quite expensive but I find it lasts a long time and I only have to repurchase it about twice a year. About 4-5 months ago I was routing around in T K Maxx as I do and came across the Burberry sheer foundation in trench no.01. Since then I've been mixing a tiny bit of my Nars with 3 pumps of the Burberry foundation on the back of my hand to create the perfect colour.
Hold on, that's not the end of it.
After buying the Seventeen 3 way highlighter ( which I did a blog post on here if you want to check it out) I've also incorporated a small pump into my foundation routine as well. My skin type is never really oily so I love a glowing almost shiny finish to my face. So to clarify, I use a drop of the Nars sheerglow, a few pumps of the Burberry and a pump of the highlighter. Obviously, this sounds like a whole lot of product which could result in cake face ( never a good look) , however because they are both 'sheer' foundations they end up looking pretty natural.
To apply my foundation I use my Real Techniques buffing brush and I REALLY buff it all in. I think the key to getting a flawless finish with your foundation is to buff it in, buff it in again... and then keep buffing it. I spend a long time buffing my foundation in, especially down onto my neck to avoid one of 'those' lines, you want it to look like skin as much as possible.
Being a pale person with blue undertones I appreciate how difficult it can be to find a foundation suited for fair skin. If I were to give any advice to someone with pale skin who is struggling to find the perfect match, I would recommend mixing different foundations. A good tip is to purchase a white foundation and mix that in with your normal foundation to lighten it up. I believe Mac do a white face and body foundation although I might be wrong.
Thank you for reading loves :)
