I briefly mentioned what I am currently reading in yesterdays blog post, Russell Brand’s
‘ Revolution’. It’s abit heavy and serious and not something I would regard as Christmas, festive holiday reading, however interesting to say the least and I am enjoying it.
I think it’s nice to have a good book ( or a couple of books if you’re a faster reader than me) to sink your teeth into over Christmas.
Here are three books I have read that I would recommend you to read over the coming festive weeks.
1. Jojo Moyes - Me Before You
I have read a handful of Jojo Moyes books over the last year and I really love her writing. I mean it’s not Charlotte Bronte or Oscar Wilde but it doesn’t claim to be. Her stories are simple but sweet and really easy to read. Every book I’ve read of hers leaves me totally invested in the characters and emotionally moved. *warning* you will cry at this book.
2. Truman Capote - Breakfast at Tiffanys
Truman Capote is a pleasure to read. I would also recommend his short stories which are equally marvellous to Breakfast at Tiffanys. Different to the movie but still endearing and I can still picture my beautiful Audrey as the perfect Holly Golightley.
3. Stephen Fry - More Fool Me
I was lucky enough to go to see Stephen a couple of months back, in Sheffield, talk about his book and various other things that increased my love for him even more. He signed my book afterwards and he is just as adorable in real life as he is on tv. This memoir is lovely and in fact I would encourage you to read his previous two memoirs before this one just so you can start from the beginning and prevent yourself from becoming confused. I’ve read all three and they are all good reads. I particularly enjoyed his first memoir ‘Moab is my washpot’
