Soap&Glory Supercat eyeliner review // MostlyMilly

Another bit of makeup I purchased off Amazon recently was this Soap and Glory Supercat Carbon black extreme eyeliner pen. Here is the link of where I found it : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Soap-Glory-Supercat-extreme-eyeliner/dp/B007H90MPU

£7.00 I bought it for on Amazon, at Boots you can pick it up for £6 and I would say that's pretty good for an eyeliner . I don't recall using any Soap and Glory makeup before but I have used their bath and body products and I've always loved them. I don't know what I was expecting from this product but I'm very happy with it.

The packaging is super cute and I love the use of pink and gold. The packaging says:

" Supercat carbon black extreme eyeliner pen with inkjet colour release and gloss-fix finish"
and thats it's a "foolproof marker tip"

It also instructs on the back of the packaging :

" Easy on the eye : Draw Supercat along the curve of your lashline, from the inner to the outer corner of your eyelid ( or beyond, when you're going bold). Use the fine point for a natural look or the thick edge for dramatic flash."

This is by far the easiest eyeliner I've ever used. It's just like a pen and makes it so easy to attempt anything from a thin line to a bold cat eye. I find it so easy to build up and the colour is really black, matte and not at all watery or easily smudged. I've read some other reviews on this eye-liner and they all said this product doesn't dry out for months and months which is brilliant for £6.
I would definitely recommend this to someone who struggles with their eyeliner, especially when attempting a cat eye flick. I know all too well how difficult it can be to walk out the door with two, equal and matching eyes but this eyeliner makes that process so much easier.

The nip is small and accurate and really easy to apply.

^ Here's a quick flick I attempted on my little sister ( just look at those lashes :( ) . It was so easy and as you can see it's really thin but easy to build up if you prefer a thicker, bolder cat eye.

BH Cosmetics 28 Neutral Colour Palette first impression // MostlyMilly

I have been ordering a bit of makeup recently. Mostly from Amazon as it’s so quick and easy and the one click process literally pulls me in. I love my eyeshadow palettes and I’ve heard of BH Cosmetics before and as far as I’m aware it’s a cheap American makeup brand. I’ve come across a lot of their eyeshadow palettes as they are super cheap but have always hesistated in buying any due to mixed reviews and my dis-belief that you can possibly sell quality eyeshadows so cheaply.
Here’s the exact link from where I bought this palette from :

The palette is £12.95 so really cheap. For that price you get 28 shadows that range in matte and shimmer finish. I didn’t have massive expectations on this product purely due to it’s price but after having a quick play around after it arrived today, I’m pleasantly surprised. I wouldn’t say I’m blown away by the pigmentation of these shadows but for less than £13 I think this would be a perfect palette for someone just starting out in makeup.

The textures of the shadows differ which is strange. Some of the colours are much creamier and more pigmented than others that literally hardly show up. I would definitley recommend using an eyeshadow primer when wearing these shadows as I’m not certain they will last very long.

^ Here are 3 of the brown shadows in the palette. One thing I would change about this palette is to include names for the colours as there aren’t any that I can see. As you can see from the swatches above, the pigmentation is good! However, like I said before, this differs as some colours hardly show up.

 ^ A few more swatches

^ Here above is an example of what I mean about the difference in pigmentation and texture in some of the shadows. The white is the whitest white of the palette (bottom left) and its so creamy and I’m really pleasantly surprised because usually in cheaper palettes, the white colours show up the least. On the right is the black of the palette ( bottom right) and its much less pigmented than the white. It’s ashy and hardly shows up, I had to really rub my finger in it to get a swatch.

I think for less than £13 this palette really isn’t that bad. You get a nice range of neutral colours and if you’re just starting out in makeup and want something to play around with for a really cheap price this is perfect!

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette VS w7 In The Nude Palette // MostlyMilly

w7 in the nude palette is a huge dupe for the Naked 3 palette and I've only just realised. Lets start with the prices. The Naked 3 palette you can get for around the £37 mark whereas the w7 palette I picked up for £4.99. So what is it about the Naked 3 that makes it £32 more expensive?
First off, the packaging is clearly better made. Although I much prefer the packaging of the first Naked palette, the quality of the tin of the Naked 3 palette is much better than the w7. The w7 packaging is very cheaply made and feels as though it could fall apart in your hands if you're not too careful.

Obviously w7 did it's best to copy the packaging of Urban Decays Naked 3 palette. Just look at the colour, pattern and design. It's a clear dupe from the outside if you discard the quality and weight ( Naked 3 feels a little heavier and more sturdy)

Inside the palettes at first glance you'll see they both have 12 colours. They both include double ended brushes and the Urban Decay palette has a large mirror opposite, whereas the w7 does not.

The difference in quality of the brushes is apparent as in the Naked 3 palette you get a good quality gold brush with a flat eye brush and on the other side, a bigger blending/ crease brush.
In the w7 palette you again get a double ended brush. On one end you get one of those hopeless, sponge brushes that no one really ever uses and on the other you get a very small flat brush.

Now for the colours. At the first look you can see they look very similar tones and shades.

Here below are the shadows 'Strange' and 'Latte' for example. 'Strange' , at the left is from the Urban Decay and 'Latte' on the right is the w7. The difference in pigmentation in the lighter shades is very noticeable. In the Naked 3 palette the pigmentation for the lighter shadows are good quality and they last much longer than the w7 lighter shadows.

However, in some of the darker shadows you start to see very similar results.

In the photo below, on the left finger is 'trick' and on the right there is' Sun Kissed' . 'Trick' (left) is from the Naked palette and ' Sun Kissed' (right) is from the w7 palette. The pigmentation and colour is very similar and any differences are hardly noticeable.

Here ( in the photo below ) there is ' Blackheart' on the left finger and 'Fashionista' on the right. Any guesses which is which?
The w7 ' Fashionista' is actually on the right and has alot more pigmentation than the more expensive Urban Decay 'Blackheart' on the left.
The colours are slightly different, Blackheart is more of an ashy, grey, matte black whereas Fashionista is a purpley, darker black with hints of red.

In my personal opinion, if I was just starting off with makeup and eyeshadow palettes I'd definitely go grab the w7 palette first. It's just so much cheaper and is a great starter palette. Although all the colours might not match the quality of the Urban Decay palette I still think it's worth getting for a fiver. All in all, the texture of the Naked 3 colours are much creamier and more consistent, but if you're someone ( like myself ) who tends to stick to more neutral, natural and subtle shades I wouldn't hesitate in picking up the w7 palette.

MAC Carnal Instinct Review // MostlyMilly

I Recently I had a trip to York shopping outlet and it gets me so excited because of the amazing deals and I always end up bringing back some expensive makeup for a less expensive price tag. One of the things I picked up from York was this Mac Frost lipstick in the colour 'Carnal Instinct'.

This is by far the darkest most daring lip colour I own. I never ever wear anything other than light pinks or nudes but I really want to try and expand my horizons and push myself to be a bit more adventurous. It's described as a  “deep brick red with gold pearl [with a Frost finish].”

The pigmentation is great and it glides on really easily and it does last. However due to it's colour and how dark it is I found it really difficult to wear. Maybe its because I'm so used to slapping on easy, nude shades that don't smudge or ruin that I ended up getting this all over the place. Will definitely only be applying with a lip brush and after a lot of lip pencil.

It's a vampy, brown kind of deep red with little sprinkles of gold. Definitely perfect for Halloween, Autumn and Winter. I'll probably stay clear of it in the Summer but I think it's a good start to trying to branch out with darker colours.

Too Faced Romantic Eye Palette Review // MostlyMilly

I bought this Too Faced Romantic Eye palette from Asos a couple of months back for £24 and it’s fair to say I was kind of disappointed. I HATE to say I don’t like something and sound like a moaner but I’ve got to be honest I’ve hardly used this palette at all. I bought this palette because when I saw the colours online I thought they looked so pretty and classy and back in May ( when I bought it ) I was thinking about the makeup I was going to wear for my mums wedding and these colours and the names seemed perfect. I still stand by the fact that these colours are gorgeous and really pretty however the pigmentation is kind of rubbish :(

The top row shadows are :

Soulmates, I do,Un-Veil

The middle row:

Kiss the Bride, Cut the Cake , First Dance

The bottom row:

Bouquet toss, Honeymoon, Ever After

The names are so sweet but unfortunately the colour pay off isn’t great. The lighter shadows, Soulmates, Kiss the Bride and Bouquet Toss you can barely see at all. I tried to take a picture to show you but they literally didn’t show up.
As for the darker shades, the fall out is a problem. I tend to end up getting them all over my face and it just ruins my face makeup completely which is a real shame :( I’ve used a couple of different eyeshadow primers to try prevent this and it does help a little but you will still get fall out.

Although the shadows aren’t my favourite, a feature in this palette I really love is the fact they include 3 instruction cards to help you create a few looks with the shadows. Although obviously you don’t have to follow the cards I like the concept and think it’s a great idea for beginners.

Although I’m not a huge fan of this palette it hasn’t put me off Too Faced palettes completely and I have my eye on the boudoir eyes palette and the natural eye palette.
