Burberry Prorsum A/W 2015 // MostlyMilly

Burberry showcased it's A/W 2015 collection Patchwork Pattern and Prints at the Griffith Observatory in LA, the location in which the main sequences for James Dean's legendary 'Rebel without a cause' was filmed. Anyone who knows anything about me knows my utter obsession and adoration for James Dean and his few films .Unsurprisingly the Observatory, along with his hometown and place of burial Fairmount Indiana, is on my list of places I must one day visit. It is one of my dreams to one day see a Burberry show as every season Christopher Bailey brings the inevitable coolness of his collection together with atmospheric music and puts on a show that sparks jealousy for anyone uninvited.
Christopher said he wanted to create 'undone looks' like they had just been 'thrown on' and that has definitely been achieved, however in the chicest way possible. Burberry is of course known for its coats and outerwear and this collection does not disappoint although a fresh injection of dresses shows Christopher continuing his more youthful, energetic direction for Burberry.

Here are a few of my favourite looks;

I absolutely love this coat and its whole structure. The cape-like shape gives off a feminine feel however it's brought back with the sharp collar and buttons. The over the knee boots introduce a subtle but important flash of autumnal colour.

Leopard print was included in the collection but with a thrown together vibe, a miss match that prevents a tacky look than can often be the result when attempting animal print.

Fringing was a major factor in the collection, proving the s/s 70's bo-ho vibe will be carried into the autumn. I love the classic suede brown but the colourful twist with the purple really stood out for me.

This stunning green, sheer dress caught my eye as I love the length and paired with the leopard clutch you can see and understand where the collection is going with the mixture of textures and patterns.

Make-up was left minimal with just a silvery smokey eye, colourless lips and a glowing complexion.

Freedom of Fashion // MostlyMilly

I am often mistaken for being 'vain' and for thinking I am above others due to the way I dress. To me this is ridiculous as I can't for the life of me see how the clothing someone wears determines whether they are vain. Yes, fashion is often a route to self expression and individuality and this is one of the things I adore about the fashion world. However, it's unfair to judge others for the way that they choose to dress. I understand that it is programmed within us as humans to react and immediately judge others for their appearance ( no thanks to the many stereotypes we are fed throughout our lives ) but what a wonderful world it would be if everyone made a conscious decision to try and change that. I'm in no way saying I am perfect and that I don't occasionally subconsciously make a misconception about someones character due to what they are wearing, however I'm trying to change that.
Fashion may seem ridiculous and tedious to some people but to me it's more than just materialistic. It's freedom of expression, its historic and cultural. Fashion is a very fast paced industry. It's about looking forward to the next season, the next trends. That's something I love about it, there's no waiting around dwelling on things. You simply move forward and get on with it. I know I'm referring to clothing but it's something I like to interpret into general life situations and also my state of mind.
I have a serious love of clothes. Clothes have the ability to take my breath away and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Some people are blown away by science or sports, and just because my passion comes in the form of fashion doesn't make me any less intelligent than someone who doesn't share the same interests.
I have a real love of people who have the confidence and ability to wear whatever they want, regardless of what people might think. At the end of the day you must dress for yourself, no one else. I think I'm getting there and I'm becoming more confident in my outfits however it's still daunting to me.
I hope you can agree with and understand my point to a certain degree. A conscious effort to accept others for their style, look and appearance could make a huge difference to others confidence and ultimately, happiness.

70's inspired outfit // MostlyMilly

The 70's is well and truly back and although I spent a few days moaning about how I would never let myself be caught dead in flares or platforms, I may as well now be a member of ABBA. The usual Millie would have gone 'nah' and continued to wear the same black skinny jeans and cashmere black jumper throughout the entire summer but I've decided this year to step up my game and try something a little more adventurous.

What I'm wearing :

Hat : Topshop
Glasses : vintage
Top : Topshop
Jeans : vintage Wranglers
Platforms : Asos

I don't think I'm brave enough to try and wear flares and flats so I'll stick to my platforms however I'm completely in love with this outfit. I'm on the look out for some skinnier fitted flares, which shouldn't be hard to come by as they are everywhere this season.
This outfit is very 70's and I put it together to demonstrate the spring/summer trend, You don't have to go so full on especially if you're not totally confident. The off the shoulder bardot style top would look cute with a pair of high waisted shorts and flats.

peace and love ;)
